Springing Forward: The Season of Renewal and Growth.

Springing Forward: The Season of Renewal and Growth.

When you think of Spring what comes to mind?

Having lived for eleven years in upstate New York, when I think of Spring I imagine waking up to the gentle warmth of the sun, singing birds, and flowers beginning to bloom. Spring is upon us my faithful readers—a time for renewal, growth, and boundless possibilities.

One of my favorite quotes is by Eleanor Roosevelt, "With the new day comes new strength and new thoughts." As spring knocks on our doors, urging us to shed the old and embrace the fresh, it's time to hop on the bandwagon of change and greet the season with open arms.

This week l propose we dive in and explore how we can ride the wave of excitement and embark on new journeys ahead.

This is how I like to prepare for Spring.

Clear Out The Clutter:

Ugh, how can I accumulate so much in one year? I’m grateful for Spring because it’s my time of the year to purge. I like to kick things off with a little spring-cleaning action—outward and inward.

When I say outward, I mean shedding the excess. My trash might just be someone’s treasure. Why keep it in my closet when someone else could be using it? Yes, my friend, it's time to let go of those 'dust collectors' in our houses and create space for the new.

As for inward cleansing, it's all about a deep cleanse. This is when I make my resolutions for the year. A few months into the New Year, I've had time to transition and now I'm thinking about what's next. I devise a broad plan of action for the year, breaking it down by months and revisiting it weekly and daily to stay on track. It may sound like a lot of work, but trust me, my friend, it becomes second nature if you choose to practice.

Behavior Adjustment #1 - Practice Minimalism As a Goal.

Let’s try, instead of hoarding unnecessary stuff—tangible and intangible—to adopt a minimalist mindset. Keep it simple, stupid! This year, let’s focus on quality over quantity and surround ourselves only with things that truly add value to our lives.

Nurture Gratitude:

Now, let's talk about gratitude—the secret sauce to a fulfilling life. As spring blooms around us, take a moment each day to pause and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. Appreciate nature: flowers blooming, bright green lawns, an afternoon at a park—by ourselves or with a friend—or the simple pleasure of a hot cup of coffee in the morning.

I’m a big advocate of practicing gratitude. Appreciating life’s simple things helps me maintain a positive mindset. Having a positive mindset, I feel I attract good things. It’s like engaging in a positive energy cycle that propels me forward, without letting the less attractive points and circumstances of my life bog me down.

Behavior Adjustment #2 - Celebrate Gratitude.

Create your own way to celebrate gratitude. Some people like to jot down things they’re grateful for each day. Personally, I have a gratitude jar, and every day I write down one thing I’m grateful for—the first thing that comes to mind. It could be as simple as my cup of coffee or as profound as a breakthrough in my growth journey. By shifting our focus to the positive, we attract even more reasons to be thankful.

Plant Seeds of Intentions:

Last but not least, let's talk about planting seeds—metaphorically speaking, of course. As spring breathes new life into the world around us, take some time to reflect on our aspirations and goals. This tip follows after clearing up the clutter. Now that we have space for new things, thoughts, and attitudes, what do we want to achieve?

Let go of the rigid mindset that says things can't be done for whatever reason, and instead embrace the mindset of "What steps can we take to get there?" Let’s set our intentions with clarity and purpose, and watch as the universe aligns to make our dreams a reality.

Behavior Adjustment # 3 - Take Action.

Don't just dream it—do it. Break down goals into actionable steps and commit to taking consistent, deliberate action. Whether it's signing up for that class you've been eyeing or carving out time each day to work on your passion project, every small step counts towards creating the life you desire.

As we say farewell to the winter chill and welcome the warmth of spring, let's carry forward the spirit of renewal and transformation in our hearts. Remember, each day is a fresh canvas—a chance to paint our lives with vibrant colors, bold strokes, and boundless possibilities.

So, my dear friend reader, as we embark on this journey of self-discovery and growth, know that we hold the power to shape our destiny. Embrace the clearing of clutter, the cultivation of gratitude, and the planting of intentions as your guiding lights. With each small adjustment, we inch closer to the life we want—one filled with purpose, joy, and fulfillment.

So, let's seize the start of this new season with open hearts and eager minds, ready to embrace the wonders that lie ahead of us.

Until next time, let's make this Spring one to remember.
